PegJump

PegJump is the iPhone version of one of those ancient games you typically find shoved in the back of a drawer at your grandma’s house. Cavemen first played this game on a wooden triangle with holes all over it, and each hole had a peg. You start by taking out one peg wherever you want, but for the rest of the game you can only remove pegs by jumping over them with adjacent pegs. If that sounds confusing, you’re probably too stupid to play PegJump and should install Tic-Tac-Toe instead.
Seriously, this game is hard. It’s very winnable and an entire game can easily be over in a minute or less, but if you’ve never played before it’ll probably take you 15-20 tries before you finally win by having only one peg left on the board. Seventy Nine Lines has done a really nice job of keeping the game simple and it plays just like it should, so you’ve got no excuses.
My only real criticism of PegJump is that every time you start a new game it reminds you to begin by removing a peg… this gets just a little annoying after 30 losses in a row… but other than that the game is solid and some would even call it addictive. Try it out and see how much quality gameplay you get from PegJump versus other games with fancy sounds and graphics and all that. You might be surprised at how good this game really is.
- Just in case you can't remember the intricate web of rules that govern PegJump
- Sigh... thanks for telling me this valuable info... AGAIN...
- I'm a loser both figuratively AND literally
- Hint: leave vibrations turned off unless your goal is to get annoyed
- If you solve the puzzle in less than 30 sec. you automatically become a member of Mensa, just show them your screenshot
- Early peg game, circa 600 B.C. Excavated in 1928 from Central Mesopotamia dig site
