Converting units sucks, but you have to do it once in a while. If you’re living abroad or just enjoy being a huge nerd you might even have to do it on a daily basis. This is where UniCon comes in handy.
UniCon is free and, according to Julian Asamer, it can convert over 70 different units across 11 different categories. I didn’t bother counting them up, but I believe him. This thing provides conversion for everything from weight to volume to speed to temperature to area, and it even does a lot of major foreign currencies, all in a simple and easy to follow interface.
Just to make sure this app is as good as I believe it is, I conducted a little comparison test pitting UniCon vs. an online conversion website and the results were always within a ridiculously small margin, like .00001 or something. I also tested the currency conversion (in this case, Euros and Canadian dollars) against exchangerate.com and there was a bit more variance than the fixed units, but UniCon was still within pennies every time.
Unit converters aren’t sexy but there’s no reason to NOT download UniCon. Just stick it on the last page of your iPhone icons and it’ll be there when you need it.
- My poor non-brain can't even keep the simplest conversions straight without tech support
- That's all U.S. dollars are worth?! Geeeezzzz
- It doesn't take a converter to figure out Free is better than Not Free
