Back in September I wrote about an arcade-style shooter called Alien Invasion, and now I’m writing about Plasma. Both are basically the same game, but Plasma is simpler and slightly less campy.
In Plasma the object is to tap the crap out of as many outer-space plasma balls as possible, and you lose precious life everytime you tap a bad red plasma or let a good pink plasma fly off the screen. Get big points for keeping your chain going by hitting all of the pink plasmas. When your life meter runs out, you’re dead.
THAT’S IT!
That’s the whole game. The music is a little cheesy, as it is in most arcade games, but otherwise this game isn’t bad for $.99. Plasma lets you put in your initials for the in-game scoreboard, a simple tap will submit your score to an online global scoreboard (very nice), and you can also use the options screen to adjust the sound and toggle vibration on/off. The only minor omission is the lack of a button to go to the title or options screen after the game starts.
If you get a phone call in the middle of your game you’ll want to ignore it or you have to start over, but unless you’re trying to make the global scoreboard it’s no big deal to lose your progress.
Overall, I think GClue, Inc. did a nice job on Plasma as they seem to have covered most of the basics that make a game like this fun and user-friendly. Plasma is a mindless tapping game, and if that’s what you’re after it shouldn’t take long to get a buck’s worth of entertainment out of it.
- Options are hidden under the info icon in the corner
- Nice to have options like these available
- I recognize that plasma ball! I had one in my college dorm room
- Pink plasma = good, red plasma = bad
- I suck at tapping, unless it's a keg
- One-tap submission to the big scoreboard is awesome
- Yeah like I'll ever have the patience to tap 5 gazillion plasma balls
