iCopter Classic from Smackall Games Pvt Ltd isn’t the worst game you can get for free…but not the best either.  As a retro landscape scrolls by you provide lift for your copter to clear pong-paddle obstacles.  When you aren’t providing lift (by simply touching the screen), the copter falls via gravity.  Contact with the landscape or an obstacle is game over; otherwise it’s just distance between you and your last high score.  You can set the scroll speed, force of gravity and color of the landscape…a surprisingly versatile set of options.  This app is what it is, a super-simple pickup game to waste a few minutes then put away.  The graphics are crayon-simple but that’s basically on purpose.  Even so, woulda’ been nice to see at least a little bit of animation for the copter.  Also you don’t have to worry about annoying the guy next to you because there’s no sound, not even a retrolicious beep-boop.

Gripe – the game keeps asking for location information, why I have no idea.  Tied to the banner ads on the title screen perhaps?  The global scoreboard?  Whatever the reason it makes no sense for a game as simple as this and can only put people off IMO.  Also, this game isn’t mentioned on their website, odd.

Anyone try iCopter on 3G S (v3.0)? I downloaded the app and when i play it only recognizes like 1 out of every 5 touches. I used to play this on the 3G (v2.2.1) with no problem.

Does iCopter work with the 3.0 OS?

Just tried it on 3G S OS3, wouldn’t even register *any* touches…update definitely needed.

Latest update should fix this problem…

update is better (touches now are picked up) but something still isn’t right. the game always speeds up (really fast) after a couple seconds into it.
