If you missed out on yesterday’s app giveaway, which one user called “epic”, I still have a few apps leftover and Lingopal is one of them! I just reviewed Lingopal a few days ago and it’s pretty great as phrasebooks go… 42 languages, spoken translations, and it’s all local (as in no internet needed). Impressive!

If you miss out on these codes but are planning to be in a foreign country sometime in the foreseeable future, just buy the app – it’ll come in handy.

As an old man was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife’s voice urgently warning him, “Herman, I just heard on the news that there’s a car going the wrong way on Route 280. Please be careful!”

“It’s not just one car,” said Herman, “it’s hundreds of them!”

18,000 Cool Jokes is full of jokes like this one… corny, slightly amusing jokes. Some of them vaguely qualify as “mature”, but the vast majority are are pretty mild.

B-Day Giveaway: Birthday C@rds

If there’s ever an iPhone U where they teach iPhone app development, I nominate Hot Chili to teach the world how to handle text and images. I’ve said it like five times already today, and I’ll say it again: they RULE at it! And their Mad Skillz in this area make their entire C@rds lineup a joy to use. If you ever plan on emailing a birthday card from your iPhone, GET THIS APP! Trust me, it’s the best.

Well folks, I’m exhausted… I guess giving out free iPhone apps for 13 hours will do that to you!

I still have some more apps which will have to be posted tomorrow, but it seems fitting to close out today with Birthday C@rds by Hot Chili Apps.

Thanks to everyone who makes this site work: the readers, the writers, and the app developers. It’s a sick love triangle we’ve got going here, but it’s also a lot of fun! This past year has been awesome and, in many ways, a learning experience, and I’m looking forward to another year of iPhone nuttiness.

:) :) :)

Michael

B-Day Giveaway: Golden Miner

User rating: (5 votes, average: 4.00 out of 5)

It’s funny, the first app from Colorme Info Tech was a very elegant Chinese art scroll, and then they kind of blew me away with Golden Miner.

Golden Miner is a classic flash game that’s been floating around the internet for years now and it’s a pretty fun time waster. If  you miss out on these promo codes, just play the flash game below! It’s not made by the same company that created this iPhone app, but the two are nearly identical in gameplay.

Golden Miner is a quality game, and $1 is a total bargain to have this game in your pocket.

B-Day Giveaway: Pipe Mania

T.J. just reviewed Pipe Mania recently and it’s a good thing he wrote it up instead of me because I had no idea this was another classic 80s port! It was released in 1989 which was right around the time that I discovered beer, so I guess it’s not a big shocker that I missed such a huge hit.

In T.J.’s words, “If you’ve never played any version of Pipe Mania, just go buy this app now. This is a classic industry staple. You can’t go wrong.”

What else do you need to know?

Hey good idea! I hadn't thought about using Spotlight Search this way

Hey good idea! I hadn't thought about using Spotlight Search this way

I just posted an update for this app yesterday for Intelligenti Publishing’s recent expansion of Tips & Tricks that includes OS3.0 and iPhone 3GS.

Normally I’m not a big fan of ebooks, but this is one that you really can’t go wrong with. There’s a lot of great info here that you might be surprised you don’t already know, and if this app keeps getting updated with every new iPhone firmware release and every new iPhone version… well, it’s pretty easy to do the math! $1 is a pittance.

Aww crap, I forgot to spell out C-R-A-P

Aww crap, I forgot to spell out C-R-A-P

Pay no attention to the one star rating! Again, my iPhone says one thing, but iTunes says Wordulous has 37 ratings that average out to 4 stars which sounds much more realistic.

Someone at 99Games is obviously a word junkie and knows how these games are supposed to work. WordsWorth is great, and Wordulous is another game that’s done right!

I’m always wince a little when the girl nerd on the title screen “welcomes” me to the game, but after that it’s smooth sailing with this very reasonably price $1 app.

If blackjack is your thing, get this app!! If there’s a more realistic Blackjack table on the iPhone I’d like to see it.

A few months after I reviewed this app last year in September, Huffington Post ran an article about how some complete jackasses were apparently using their iPhones to count cards at casinos. It’s true that 21 Pro: Blackjack includes a card counting option and a little info on it but puhhhhlease… trying to fire up an iPhone app at a blackjack table sounds about as intelligent as splitting face cards.

Carrie Underwood is purrrrrrrty

Carrie Underwood is purrrrrrrty

Mike Lightman went ga-ga for ooTunes back in May, calling this app “arguably the most comprehensive & extensive radio app in the App Store.” Sounds like a stamp of approval to me!

I haven’t tried this app myself, but Mike’s review sounds like proof positive that streaming iPhone music actually does go further than Pandora and AOL Radio. You can get Bulgarian hiphop on this thing? Crazy!!

Just like in Scabble, you can't spell out the acronym for Cannabalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers

There are lots of games like WordsWorth, but the thing to know about this version is that it’s really well done. I’m way too stupid to be good at this word game, but it’s a fun game and can get pretty addicting if you’re a card-carrying Word Nerd.

There’s a whole lotta gameplay here for a dollar if you’re up for it! And there are even Spanish, French, Italian, and German versions for you crazy multilingual types.
