In all honesty I have never been able to get into the Tap Tap Revenge series by developer Tapulous. Pretending to play a fake guitar on your TV is one thing, but I felt downright stupid tapping to music on a 4.5” x 2.4” screen. However, when I saw this game paired with the name Coldplay, I was ready to give Tap Tap another shot. What I ended up finding was that once I gave it a fair shot, the game is actually fun in its rhythmic tapping of a screen. If Tap Tap Revenge: Coldplay can please me, this game will be sure to please Coldplay and Tap Tap fans alike.

If you have never played a game from the Tap Tap series, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Dance Dance Revolution, etc. then the basic idea behind the game is that you tap on what are essentially glowing rectangles as they go through a bar at the bottom of the screen. The pattern in which the squares are placed helps create a rhythm that matches up with the one playing in the song. It helps us less creative and musically gifted to get some sort of feeling of playing music, that finger tapping instrument that 100% exists.

What really appealed to me in this version over others was the playlist it carries. While it only has eleven songs, it is stacked with some of Coldplay’s bigger hits, including Clock, Speed of Sound, Yellow, In My Place, and Viva La Vida among others.

What appeals to me in the actual gameplay is the visually stunning graphics and the intricate rhythms that match well with the song. Using this app you can create a profile, post your high scores, post them to Facebook, even click on the link to the Coldplay news feed.

Tap Tap Revenge: Coldplay is a step ahead of its predecessors. It has a setlist that no other version can yet compare to.

I apologize ahead of time for the timeliness of this review. It should have been out several months ago.

I just download the original version because I wondered what the rage was all about. I never got in to guitar hero so I wasn’t expecting much, but to be honest it is a wonderfully designed game. The graphics are great, and I love playing to Lady Gaga songs! Truthfully though, I’ve only opened up the app a few times. I’m not much of a game player, but Tap Tap and Sally’s Spa have been the two games that have managed to stay on my phone for more than a day. So that makes the my favorite games :)
