Fix It – Fix Labels & Find Duplicates
Michael (Admin) | Aug 11, 2009 Utilities

If you’re as lazy and disorganized as I am you’ve probably got duplicates all over the place in your iPhone contacts. Fix It’s job is to make it easy to remove the duplicates and it also lets you rearrange a few labels within your contacts which I don’t really see a need for but the feature’s there so yay, I guess.
As far as cleaning up the contacts goes, Fix It does make it pretty easy in most respects. It will find contacts that are duplicated and group them together so that you can choose which ones to get rid of or, if it’s one of those mysterious names that makes you go “who the hell is that??”, you can delete the contact and all duplicates with just two quick taps.

Fantasy Football Draft Kit roundup
Michael (Admin) | Aug 7, 2009 Sports
Hey FF nerds, I missed out on the short window for fantasy football reviews last year but this time around I’m all over it! Every year I’m in at least three fantasy football leagues so I definitely have a vested interest in apps like these.
One thing I wanna say right off the bat is that all of these fantasy football apps fall into the “draft kit” category which implies that they’re intended for use during a fantasy draft so that’s how I’m treating them. They each allow you to mark players so you know if they’ve been drafted by you or someone else, each supports multiple drafts, and each one has a “my team” view.
Eric’s 6 Random Freebies
Michael (Admin) | Aug 7, 2009 Random Freebies
It’s been a few weeks since the last round of untested free stuff, but this one was worth the wait!
Eric’s dug up a bunch of apps that look unique and really worth trying out. If the mosquito-repeller works come back and let us know!!!!
Learn Chess by Tom Kerrigan: It astounds me how many people don’t know how to play chess! If you’re one of those folks you should remedy that… you never know when you’ll want to impress the neighborhood geek.
Anti Mosquito Free by iPushUpCounter: There are several anti-mosquito apps that claim to play a noise that only mosquitos (and dogs?) can hear… some reviewers of this app say it’s great, others say it totally blows…
CardStar by Mesa Dynamics LLC: Digitize all those annoying “club” cards you have to sort through when you go shopping
How To Videos From Howcast.com: Learn how to do all kinds of oddball things and, most importantly, learn how to moonwalk
Military Might by Playmesh: Run an army instead of a mafia
Assassin’s Creed Altair’s Chronicles Free by Gameloft: Well it’s Gameloft so you know it’s good, but it’s also “free” from Gameloft so you know it’s short

Packing Pro code correction!
Michael (Admin) | Aug 7, 2009 Travel

Yesterday I reviewed Packing Pro and, because I have the IQ of a doorknob, I posted codes for the non-Pro version of Packing. Whoops… MY BAD!
Quinn Genzel in all his awesomeness had provided two sets of codes and I just posted the wrong one. So here’s the right one! And if you grabbed a Packing code yesterday, don’t feel bad… it’s still a great app for getting packed up.
Update: IM+ Push v3.3
Michael (Admin) | Aug 7, 2009 Social Networking, Updates

The folks at SHAPE Services keep on pumping out the updates and making their heavy-duty IM+ line of apps better and better! IM+ was originally reviewed here back in April when it was still on version 2.0 and now that we’re in the 3′s it supports Skype, sending video (3GS only, duh), has an in-app web browser, and does all kinds of Twitter stuff including link shrinking and retweets. Badaaaaaaaassssss.

Packing Pro
Michael (Admin) | Aug 6, 2009 Travel

Chrisa reviewed Packing back in March and it nearly sent her into orgasmic convulsions! Her words (kind of), not mine.
I don’t think I’m quite as obsessive-compulsive as Chrisa… I’m a single guy, after all. My typical packing ritual begins about half an hour before I’m supposed to walk out the door and usually takes about 10-15 minutes, but when I’m tossing garbage into a suitcase it’s always pretty haphazard and there have been plenty of times when I’ve figured out that I forgot something I really wanted to have with me.
Something tells me those days are over! I can see why Chrisa went so nutty over her version of Packing… this really is a great tool for anal-retentive travelers and I can even see myself using it whenever I’m about to hit the road.
Puri! 2.0
Michael (Admin) | Aug 6, 2009 Photo & Video

Is it wrong for a 30-something guy to be dressing up photos with a gaudy teen-centric photo stamp app? Yeah, it probably is but I’m doing it anyway so screw you!!
Photo booths in Asia have been laying flowery, ultra-cute designs over pics for years, and I’m guessing it’s probably catching on in the western world now but to be honest I have no idea. What I do know is that the iPhone is the perfect platform for apps like Puri! where you can take a photo (or select from the camera roll) and apply all kinds of frames and stamps and text, all in the name of making them sickenly cute.
I may not be an expert in this kind of app, but I feel pretty good about saying that Puri! gets the job done and offers a pretty big array of cartoony cuteness that’s just waiting to make it onto your photos.

More Lingopal Codes!
Michael (Admin) | Aug 5, 2009 Travel

The Favorites list is muy bueno
Hey travelers, the folks at Lingopal love you sooooooo much that they’ve provided some more promo codes!
In case you missed it, here’s the review. If you’re planning to travel in a place where they don’t speak your language… even if that language happens to be Afrikaans or Estonian or Icelandic or Tagalog… this iPhone phrasebook has you covered!
I’ll be posting some codes for the German and Japanese versions of Lingopal in a few minutes, so if you’d prefer a version that has ONLY those languages instead just hang on~

WTF: Sexy Models Screen Wash
Michael (Admin) | Aug 5, 2009 Entertainment, WTF?!

Sexy Models Screen Wash is supposed to be a geeky joke you play on iPhone virgins by showing them that “there are hot models living in your phone just to clean your screen”. It gives you two different screens that look like they’re halfway functional and, depending on which one you’re using, a guy or a girl will magically walk into frame and wipe down your iPhone screen with a Shamwow.
Okaaayyyy… first I’d like to point out that the words “hot models” is used pretty liberally here. There’s only one girl and one guy, and while I wouldn’t call either one “ugly” they’re definitely not what you think of when you hear the word HOT.
WTF: Affirmations Pro
Michael (Admin) | Aug 5, 2009 Lifestyle, WTF?!

Welcome to the very first app review to fall under the newly-minted category WTF?!
When I’m feeling down, nothing brightens my day more than encouraging words from a creepy robotic voice!
I am rock solid!
I am confident at all times!
Other people think I am a good person!
My self-confidence is my weapon against the world!
Apparently Affirmations Pro comes with a total of 90 affirmations that sound like they were recorded with the talking voice from a 20-year-old Mac, and to treat yourself to these first-person nuggets of wisdom all you need to do is tap on the ultra-cool sunglass smiley faces that fill the screen.
