Q&F: Most Wanted

My fellow Americans, if you see Osama Bin Laden please do your patriotic duty and whip out your iPhone so you can report his whereabouts to the FBI immediately!
Sounds funny, but that’s basically what this app is for. Most Wanted is is the FBI’s “official” iPhone app for citizen vigilance and, even though there’s room for improvement, it’s really not too shabby for something created by government suits. It displays a photo and short summary for each entry under Top Ten Most Wanted, Terrorists, and Missing Kids, and for each item you can submit a tip via several methods including email, and there’s also a link to the FBI’s “official page” for that person on the FBI.gov website.
None of the Official Page links worked for me (all showing ‘page not found’) but at least the tip submission is well done. The Most Wanted and Terrorist lists are understandably short, but you may be wondering how they fit thousands of missing children into this app… and unfortunately the answer is they don’t. NICUSA could, and hopefully someday will, build in more features around missing persons such as location-based search and browse, but for now it’s just a small collection of about 35 kids who are lucky enough to get some mobile exposure.
Will you ever use Most Wanted for its intended purpose? Eh, probably not… but it’s free and kind of interesting, and you never know when you’ll see a face the feds are looking for.
