    Thank you Spectappular!

Please play nice and LEAVE A COMMENT telling everyone which code you took. If you get one, I’m sure the developer would also appreciate an App Store review!

    I took #2, thanks

  • http://StripsApp.com/ Jeff Verkoeyen

Hey there! I hope you like the app; we’re working hard to add more comics all the time and version two is already in the pipeline. If there are any comics you read that aren’t listed, you can tweet us at @StripsApp or email us at publishers@StripsApp.com and we’ll add it promptly.

I also want to point out that this app has Push Notifications, so you’ll be notified whenever there’s new content from your favorite comics.

    Cheers!

    Poor Jonesy! haha

  • Futureboy

LOL Jonsey… alas, I too yearn for the day when all the codes get reported every time… when peace, love and harmony spread like wildfire… children dance in the streets… animals prance happily about the forest like they do in big budget animated motion pictures… someone invents the never-knot shoelace… flying cars cost under 10k… and all the leading nutritionists around the world shout from the rooftops that ICE CREAM IN LARGE QUANTITIES IS ACTUALLY GOOD FOR YOU!!!

So, how did you work out paying the artists for using their strips in your paid app?

  • http://www.roadcrewcomic.com Tommie Kelly

Shouldn’t you really have asked the creators of the webcomics before you started selling their works?

    Just a thought….

  • http://StripsApp.com/ Jeff Verkoeyen

To be clear, I did contact a number of the comics before allowing their content to be read on the app. Comics such as Girls Don’t Play Games and Modern Philosophies were very interested in being included. Other comics like Ctrl+Alt+Delete and Dinosaur Comics replied immediately and asked to not be included, and I honored that request. This was long before the app launched.

Once the app launched, however, I ended up spending more time building the app than I did emailing comics, and this is a large mistake on my part. I have removed all of the comics that have explicitly asked to be removed, and also removed any other comics that haven’t stated that they want to be in the app.

I want to be clear that this app is a paid application much the same way that an rss feed reader might be a paid app. A large difference is in the way we handle advertisements with the app. I’ve made it clear that I want to work with the publishers in allowing them to receive this ad revenue, but so far the ad revenue has been extremely minimal (as has the number of users on the app), somewhere in the range of about $20 since the app launched.

Where is the list of all available comics that this app utilizes?

  • http://StripsApp.com/ Jeff

That list is currently only 3 comics.

    Girls Don’t Play Games
    Modern Philosophies
    Not Enough BBQ

  • Ghost

As a paid user of this app, I find this incredibly frustrating to have purchased based on certain features, only to have the majority of those features removed.

Will you be refunding those who paid for this app?

Regardless, you asked for comics we would like to see added. Put a strong vote in for Order of the Stick.

  • http://StripsApp.com/ Jeff Verkoeyen

The app will be back online within the next month. For the time being I will be working with publishers to ensure that everything is solid and that this is a product we can offer in the long-term.

In the meantime, the next version of the app has already been in development for a few weeks. This new app will be an update to the paid version of Strips that includes a new in-app store and an improved publisher organizer (similar to the way you organize apps on the iPhone). For those who have already purchased a copy of Strips, they will receive one year of free push notifications and credit towards other new in-app features.

This will also effectively merge Strips Free and the paid Strips app into one application. This should alleviate confusion about the differences between the two and make the overall experience much more solid.

We appreciate all of our users and their support since the launch of this app, but hope that it’s understood that we’re doing our best to ensure that this is something that will last in the long run. If you want to see your favorite comic be made available in Strips, I strongly suggest emailing the owner of the comic to show your support. Who knows, in some cases they may already be working on their own app :)

    Cheers,

    - Jeff
