App Sale: All Hallow’s Eve: Witch’s Ride
Michael (Admin) | Oct 28, 2009 Games

All Hallow’s Eve: Witch’s Ride is on sale for free – normally $.99
Being a witch has never been easy, what with crazy villagers wanting to burn you at the stake and all, and now it’s even harder as you try to survive in All Hallow’s Eve: Witch’s Ride. Your job is to fly as far as you can and collect candy along the way, but there are all kinds of monsters and other weirdness getting in your way!
The more candy you can collect the better; not only does it extend your life, but if you collect enough you can use it to zap all the bad guys with a lightning strike. Some of the monsters can be dealt with by spearing them with your broomstick, but generally speaking you just need to stay out of their way.
Half Fast Games threw in Open Feint for global scoring and did a nice job on the graphics and overall production values. All Hallow’s Eve: Witch’s Ride won’t keep you busy for hours, but it’s a mildly amusing Halloween diversion… and it’s free! For now, anyway.

I must be getting really old… I’d never heard of Keyboard Cat until MobileTutor.org sent these codes in! Apparently Keyboard Cat is a massive hit on YouTube (the video below has been watched 3.6 million times) and the cat’s dad even sells Keyboard Cat t-shirts on his website.
Play Him Off, Keyboard Cat contains cat videos that are viewable offline as well as direct access to more cat craziness on YouTube.

MouthOff
Michael (Admin) | Oct 28, 2009 Entertainment

I’ve never been a huge fan of apps that show a mouth that you hold in front of your face, but I have to admit that ustwo has put together a pretty good app here! I mean, if you’re gonna replace your mouth with your iPhone, you might as well do it with MouthOff.
When you hold this app over your face and start talking, your selected mouth will react to your iPhone’s mic and move along with you. Naturally this means that if you have an iPod Touch you’ll need a headset & mic to get that effect… imagine what a jackass you’ll look like… but it can be done!

iBalls:Steel makes an odd use of the new in-app purchase ability recently released by Apple… this game, a steel ball labyrinth-type thing, only includes the first of 10 levels! You have to buy subsequent levels that incrementally increase in price. Level 2 costs $2, Level 3 costs $3, and so on up to Level 9. According to this site, Level 10 costs $49.99! Ouch.
The trade off is that you have the chance to win money. MiRE Software’s website says “Current promotion giveaways exceeds 10 000 USD! Check in the app for more info.” And that’s pretty much all they tell you about it.
So that’s the deal. Once again, THIS APP INCLUDES THE FIRST LEVEL ONLY! Whether you decide to buy additional levels is up to you.

App Sale: Guardian Missile Commander
Michael (Admin) | Oct 27, 2009 App Sale Alert, Games

Guardian Missile Commander is on sale for free – normal price is $.99
You remember Missile Command, that old arcade game that’s been re-released about a million times since 1980? Guardian Missile Commander is a pretty nice remake… it doesn’t come equipped with a trac-ball or crappy 8-bit graphics, but if you loved that game then you should snag this one while the price is zero!
The main mission is the same as it was 30 years ago: destroy all the incoming missiles aimed at your cities. If you get as far as I did you’ll see missiles that start to zigzag and others that explode into missile clusters, and if there are more surprises beyond that I guess you’ll have to find out yourself.
There’s no global scoreboard (for shame!) but the gameplay is pretty much right on and you can’t argue with the current price!

iMia is a multi-player cup & dice game apparently based on an old classic called “meier” or “meiern”. I’ve never heard of either one, but I bet it would be pretty easy to incorporate some booze into the gameplay if needed!

GhostWriter
Michael (Admin) | Oct 27, 2009 Photo & Video

Scrawling evil messages across photos in blood is soooo messy! GhostWriter will do it for you, and after you take your photo it’ll even throw in some Ghoulish Miasma if you want it to.
Ghoulish Miasma is really just some weird-looking orange fog that you probably won’t want on very many of your pics (don’t worry, it’s optional), but the spooky fonts comes in two varieties, Angered Spirit and Blood Writ, and they ain’t bad. GhostWriter comes with six innocent default messages that you can select individually or at random, and if you want to really damn someone to hell you can type in your own custom message! Sweet.

App Sale: Spheric
Michael (Admin) | Oct 27, 2009 App Sale Alert, Games

When the sphere gets this full you're totally screwed!
Spheric is on sale for free – normal price is $.99-$1.99
Need a little more aggravation in your life? Spheric delivers! It’s a pretty tough match 3 puzzle (match 4, actually) where your job is to line up like-colored marbles next to each other by spinning them around a circular playing field. The field starts off pretty empty, and as it fills up by virtue of your mistakes the game gets harder and harder. When the sphere is completely filled with marbles it’s Game Over, Man.
The trick is to use the accelerometer and in-game gravity to create gaps in the right places so that, when a new marble shoots itself at the edge of the circle, it gets shot into the right place. If you wind up getting the marbles all mixed up it’s pretty hard to fix, and therein lies the frustration that comes with this puzzler.
My terrible explanation of this game makes it sound harder than it is, but when you play Spheric yourself you’ll catch on pretty quick. I’m not sure what’s up with the low two-star App Store rating… it’s a good game even for a buck or two and it’s currently free, so if you like this kind of challenge you should grab it immediately!
