If you’re looking for something that’s like Shazam but better, look no further. Yeah Shazam’s free and MusicID with Lyrics costs about the same as an Egg McMuffin, but if there’s a free music app that comes with all of MusicID’s features I’d like to see it!

Shazam, in case you’ve never heard of it (loser!), has been a staple of the App Store pretty much since the store opened up. It “listens” to your music and identifies it, it provides YouTube and iTunes links, and now it tags your music on a map so you can try to reconnect the dots if things are little hazy after last night’s pub crawl.

MusicID does ALL these things plus… it has LYRICS! Finally. I don’t know why Shazam doesn’t have lyrics, but not only does MusicID provide them whenever possible, it also comes with a bunch of other cool features including a Now Playing function so you can follow along with whatever your iPod is playing (sorry Lyrics+, now I don’t need you anymore either).

EasyTrails GPS measures time, distance, altitude, and speed, plus it can export tracks in a bunch of different formats and can be used with a bunch of different 3rd party software packages, ie: Garmin Connect.

Racing games are tough to pull off… developers have to worry about making the cars realistic, they have to convey a sense of speed, they have to incorporate a million sound effects… or do they?

Nano Rally gets along just fine without all that fanciness! It’s a unique top-down racer where your cars are tiny and the environments are huge, as in apples-to-peanuts huge. That’s my awkward way of saying that Nano Rally’s cars are, on a relative scale, roughly the size of a peanut, and they literally drive around apples and about 10,000 other items you might find in and around the average household.

There are 25 different tracks, each of which is really screwy in its own special way, and they’re spread out across six different household environments. You start off by racing around fruits and utensils in the kitchen and then move on to more challenging courses of clutter in the bedroom, office, and garden. Beyond the garden are two more environments but those are secret! You’ll have to unlock them yourself to bask in their glow.

Little known fact: holding your breath is a great way to get rid of the hiccups! Works for me, anyway. You just gotta do it for a minute or two.

This is a game where you hold your breath for as long as you can… on your iPhone, not in real life! The SuddenDeath part refers to the game’s two player mode.

Hey earlybirds! It’s 8 am and I’ve been up all night as usual. FML.

“In eXtreme Paddle you defend your territory by using your paddle to fend off the orb, deflecting it to attack your opponent.” In other words, it’s a lot like Pong! I haven’t played this game, but that’s kind of what it sounds like. Before you dismiss it as too retro, consider that you can play vs. a friend via Bluetooth or Wifi. Pong definitely couldn’t do that.
