This quasi-tower-defense game is kind of funny in a very politically incorrect way… hordes of bad guys are storming your base and you need to use cannons and an Apache helicopter to kill ‘em before they take you down. Graphics are pretty good and the sound… well it’s funny if you’re not from the Middle East. If you are, then I suspect it might make you mad when the little suicide bombers come out with their “lalalalalalalala” battle cry. Or not? I dunno, watch the video and judge for yourself.
I tried to find out from Drillbit Studios when the sale ends but their email address is bouncing back and their website’s contact form isn’t working, so if you want this game I guess you’ll just have to hurry up and get it.

I suck at a lot of things, but apparently Free the Fan‘s weekly NFL salary cap game isn’t one of them!
A couple months ago I reviewed Quick Picks Fantasy GM and thought it was a really cool idea… you select a new NFL team roster every week but you also have to stay within a $25 million salary cap. The best players cost $5 million, the crappiest are only $1 million, and you have to fill all eight roster roster spots. Just like in regular fantasy football, stat points are awarded as your guys make plays in the real world, and each week the top three scorers are rewarded with cash or Overstock.com prizes, and there’s also a season-long competition.
In week 8 of the NFL season (two weeks ago) I finished 2nd overall for the week and that earned me $75 to spend at Overstock.com. THEN… in week 9, I finished first!! First place for the week gets you $200 cash.

I have a dog, so I felt somehow morally obligated to check out Touch Pet Dogs. For starters, ouch on the Touch+ Network signup! Kind of a pain in the ass unless you’re already signed up through some other app.
Once the “game” gets going it’s not too bad, for a while anyway… you select a puppy, play with it in the 3D house environment, and the app will gradually start introducing you to different facets of taking care of your new virtual pet like using toys, bathing, going outside, and feeding. It’s all nicely rendered and the dog’s mannerisms are very cute and if you like virtual pets then you’ll probably think, “hey, this is really cool!”
BUT… based on user reviews in the App Store, feeding is apparently a big bummer because that’s the game’s money making angle… you have to buy food to feed your pet. 10 bowls costs $.99, and you can get quantity discounts if you buy 120 or 400 bowls at a time. You start out with a few bowls of food to begin with but when it runs out you’ll have to cough up some cash and, since it’s food, I guess you’ll have to keep buying for as long as you want to play with your iPhone dog.
