AirDrop Pro is an app that really doesn’t need much of a tutorial.  If you’ve had an iPhone or iTouch (yeah, I know that’s not the formal title) for more than five minutes, you know how to play this game.

It involves a cargo plane, a target, and variable wind.  Your task: to drop each plane’s cargo onto a bullseye target. Here’s how it works: at the top of the screen, a cargo plane flies by.  Somewhere on the ground is a raised stand with a red and white bullseye target atop the stand.

As the plane flies across the screen, it is your objective to time the release of the plane’s cargo so that it drops from the plane onto the target.  If the cargo lands on the target, you’ve succeeded and get to try again.  If the cargo does not land on the target, it’s game over.

It would be much easier if not for the wind.  On some passes there’s no wind at all.  On others, the wind is really quite strong and will cause your falling cargo to drift to the right or to the left.  The longer the cargo falls, the harder it is to correct or alter its course once you’ve released it from the plane.  How do you compensate for wind conditions?  Tilt the device to the left or right.  But again, if the wind has had enough time to do its work, you won’t be able to compensate.

As you progress through the various rounds (a round consists of 4 landings).  If you can land your cargo 4 times in a row without a mistake, you complete the level and gain an extra life.  That extra life will come in handy as the levels get more difficult.

AirDrop Pro is a nice diversion to engage in if you’ve got a few odd moments to spare. As the levels get more challenging, you’ll find it important to learn very quickly how to multitask.  And, you’ll find that you just can’t play one game and walk away satisfied.
