Capture Them

Capture Them (0.99$) by M-Apps
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
Capture Them is a “logic game” where you move Sheriff and Bandit pieces around a gameboard with the object being to toss the bandits in the slammer.
This attractive “cowboy” motif is very well done, graphically. Playing the game is both simple and challenging. There are 80 different ‘set ups’ where you, the Sheriff, can corral the bandits — sometimes one, sometimes several — and pull them/push them into ‘jail.’

Top 25 Free: Hardest Game Ever – 0.02s

Hardest Game Ever – 0.02s (Free) by Ming Liang Chien
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
Hardest Game Ever – 0.02s is currently #1 in the Top 25 Free section in the App Store
Top 25 is a new thing we’re doing here at IAR! We generally like to review apps that fall well outside the App Store’s Top 25 ‘cuz, let’s face it, apps that have reached “Top” status don’t need IAR’s help getting noticed. But are they any good?
Hardest Game Ever – 0.02s really is fun! And it’s pretty hard. It’s a collection of eight simple mini-games that are playable at three different levels of difficulty, and each mini-game is designed to piss you off, I mean, test your faculties. You’ll need quick reflexes and good motor control to successfully beat each level and not feel like a complete loser.
Angry Tank

Angry Tank (1.99) by Tashlik

I occasionally seek out apps that look kind of rough because you never know… sometimes they’re surprisingly fun! Angry Tank is definitely rough around the edges, but the only thing that’s surprising about it is the concept.
You’re controlling a tank in this game that’s constantly getting bombarded by bombs dropped from aircraft flying overhead. Bombs are bad for tanks, right? Wrong! In Angry Tank, bombs make your tank fly. Uhh, ok. So once you’re in the air… you use your tank’s cannon to shoot stuff, right? Wrong again! You use arrow buttons to make your magic flying tank wipe out enemies by colliding with them.

Rage of Witches

Rage of Witches ($0.99) by Nob Studio
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
I was in the mood to try something totally brainless… and I found it! Frankly I should have reviewed this app a week ago when witches and zombies were still in season, but since Nob Studio submitted this app on November 3rd that didn’t happen. Eh oh well.
So how do you play this game? Tap until your finger goes numb! The idea is to protect the poor peasants from all the scary weirdos that keep popping up out of nowhere. Zombies, witches, skeletons, ghosts, it’s kind of like Halloween is projectile vomiting all over the peasants you’re charged with guarding.

I don’t like puzzle games. They frustrate me, and then I get bored. In the mean time, I suffer a brutal strike to my ego. That didn’t happen with PowerGRID. Instead, I got hooked in by the buzzing electrical noises and just how…easy it was to succeed. It’s a challenging game, but it’s not a game that you need to be terribly smart for. You have to be fast, and you have to be willing to progress through trial and error, but if that’s something you can do, you’ll probably love this game as much as I do.

Turtle World ($0.99) by PlaySnack
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
This game is hella cute. Plus, it’s really simple, well calibrated and has great art. I hadn’t heard of PlaySnack until they requested a review, but if all of their games are this polished and put together, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend everything they make. It’s not often that I’m able to find an app I can give five stars to because I’m usually able to think of something they can improve on. I can’t with this one. It’s a simple game that’s challenging for both children and adults, it’s got a great soundtrack that doesn’t get annoying and it makes good use of the iPhone’s tilting capabilities.

Tap Forms HD

I like being organised (borderline OCD some might say) and I use a variety of apps to help me achieve this. In my view, a database creating app should be part of any organised persons arsenal and so I’ve been extensively using Tap Forms to manage and store my information both at home and at work.
Tap Forms is a huge, flexible app (and is therefore quite daunting to review!) and has 25 ready-made forms built-in and 19 customisable fields to create your own forms with.

For some strange reason – probably because I’m a geek and a safety nut – I really wanted to try this app. And I wanted to like it. In retrospect, I’m not entirely sure what I expected an app full of safety signs to do. I’m not sure I am any farther ahead with that question now that I’ve actually tried it.
Let’s Golf! 3

Let’s Golf! 3 (Free) by Gameloft

I’d give this game 5/5 stars if it wasn’t for that damn wait-or-pay thing that game developers like to do these days. As a golf game, Let’s Golf! 3 rules. I mean really, what else would you expect from Gameloft? Those guys rake in mountains of App Store cash for a reason!
And if you’ve ever played Hot Shots Golf on Playstation then you already know how to swing because the action is exactly the same: tap to start your swing, tap again to determine stroke power, tap a third time for accuracy. For the uninitiated this may sound complicated, but it’s super easy after you do it a couple times and putting only takes two taps.
Mad Rush

Mad Rush ($.99) by Krivorukoff LLP

There’s something pretty funny about launching a shrieking rabbit into the air! I’ve never done it in real life, but that’s pretty much what happens in every level of Mad Rush.
Mad Rush is a goofy little racing game where your rabbit hero, Noop, has to beat alien opponents to the top of an airborne obstacle course. In DieHard and Slalom races you gain acceleration by eating bugs of various colors, and in Nitro races you simply have to keep Noop in line with a path of upward-pointed arrows.

Before downloading any app I like to take a look at the reviews already associated with it. In this case the reviews I found were fairly poor. Normally this would put me off downloading the app, but instead I decided to go for it anyway, and I am glad that I did, because when I downloaded it and first played around with it I was pleasantly surprised.

Bring Me Sandwiches!!

Bring Me Sandwiches!! ($.99) by Adult Swim and Grumpyface Studios
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
Gourmo has a fever and the only prescription is more sandwiches!!!
Adult Swim’s latest iOS entry is the descriptively named platformer, Bring Me Sandwiches!! No, the game is not about your mom, but instead revolves around our unlikely hero, Jimmy Nugget. Jimmy is a socially challenged, zit-popping teenager who works at the local fast food restaurant. On one unassuming afternoon his town was suddenly invaded by aliens with a peculiar proclivity towards sandwiches. You see, although Gourmo is a disproportionately large alien (most likely caused by a completely natural genetically induced hormonal imbalance), he will only consume sandwiches. The good news is that he is not too picky about what type of sandwich it is, be it a bicycle/rat/Pine Tree sandwich or a pepper/cheese/beach ball sandwich.
