Finger Physics is on sale for free – normally $.99

Fans of physics-based stuff like Ragdoll Blaster and iChalky should definitely check out Finger Physics! This is a super-frustrating physics game where your job is to solve puzzles that use the magic of the accelerometer to piss you off, I mean, challenge your intellect.

Btw, if anyone knows how to “construct a stable building” on the first “Lawn mode” level, I’m all ears! See, that’s how stupid I am… I can’t even get past the fifth level without using a lifeline. (p.s. somebody might post the answer in the comments so if you wanna figure it out for yourself don’t go there!)

PressOK says the free giveaway is one day only so you better get on it if this is your thang.

Let’s Golf! is on sale for free – normally $1.99

Notice something different here? That price image above looks weird, and I’ll get to why in a minute. What you need to know right now, though, is that this kickass golf game is free! Gameloft has “lite” versions for just about all of their games, but this is the full version.

Let’s Golf! is remarkably similar to Hot Shots Golf which you might have played on Playstation or PSP. The graphics can get a little choppy at times, but this game still rules and features Instant Play, Tournament, and Multiplayer modes that support pass ‘n play and wifi. If you like humiliating your friends get them all together, download this game, and try beating each other’s asses!

Now back to why the price image looks odd… for some unknown reason, Let’s Golf! isn’t showing up in App Store searches. Only the lite version is showing up, so the only way I know to get this game is to download PandoraBox first (yes it’s free), look for Let’s Golf! under the On Sale tab at the bottom of the screen (or search for it), and then tap the FREE button which will take you to the App Store page where you can install it. Seems like a big hassle for getting this game, but PandoraBox is great too… where do you think I keep finding these app sales to announce? 8)

Update: Looks like they fixed the problem and Let’s Golf! is finally showing up in the App Store again.

IAR World Headquarters!

IAR World Headquarters!

I’m not a big Twitterer… or is it Tweeter? …and that’s why you don’t see many Twitter-related apps on IAR but this one caught my attention. Sure, it allows you to tweet and gives limited access to reading and replying to other people’s tweets (just the 10 most recent), but the hook is that you get to see where the tweets are coming from!

TweetGlobe’s main feature is a big globe that shows each tweet’s location and the tweet itself. There are times when it can’t find the location, probably due to users’ privacy settings or something, but it’s still interesting to see just how global Twitter really is. It also has an in-app browser for following external links.

It would be nice if this app would support multiple Twitter accounts so hopefully UniqueApps will look into adding that in a future upgrade.

This app has been on sale for the past week and today is the last day it’s free, so if you want it you better grab it quick!

Tap Tap Revenge 3 is on sale for free – normally $.99

If you’ve been tapping away at Tap Tap Revenge 2.6 because you got it when it was free and didn’t want to pay for Tap Tap 3, the tables have turned! Now 2.6 costs a buck and 3 is free.

Tap Tap Revenge 3 is all kinds of fancy with 1 player, 2 player, and online play modes and of course it lets you download “real” music from real artists you’ve probably heard on the radio or on your MTV. For the uninitiated, Tap Tap Revenge is basically a mobile variation on Guitar Hero where your instrument is your iPhone and you tap along to the beat of the music.

I like that Tapulous has really taken this concept and sprinted with it, but at the same time I’m a little disappointed with Tap Tap 3′s stability… even after restarting my iPhone after downloading the game, I still had some issues with the app freezing up on me. It’s still a very playable game, though, and I have a feeling Tapulous is already working on fixing known bugs in the system. If you like playing along with music and discovering new stuff to listen to, get this app while the price is zero.

Bebbled: The XMAS Challenge is on sale for free – normally $.99

Bebbled is one of those puzzle games that will drive you up the freakin’ wall if you’re the type of person who absolutely refuses to give up! It’s a little like reMovem with all the pretty colors and match gameplay, but it also lets you rotate your iPhone to rearrange the balls.

Like reMovem, your basic task is to knock out like-colored groups of “bebs” with double-taps. The more bebs you can take out at once the more points you score, and if you eliminate an entire column then everything to the left will slide over to fill the gap. You can play Freestyle which is casual and pressure-free, and the really hardcore puzzle solving comes in Campaign mode where you need to meet certain goals in order to clear the level. I made it through the first four levels in Campaign and that was all I could manage; hopefully your brain is bigger than mine (most are) if you’re planning to get to Level 5.

Even though this game is called “The XMAS Challenge” that doesn’t mean you need to dump it on December 26th. It includes both themed and non-themed versions of the game, and I think I’d be willing to pay a dollar for it if I were more of a Puzzler but you can get it for free until December 31st!

Cornhole All-Stars is on sale for free – normally $1.99

I *LOVE* it when makers of high-quality games hand out their awesome work for free! Cornhole All-Stars is an iPhone-ized version of that beanbag game you see people playing on sidewalks and outside bars. Call it what you want… cornhole, bean bag toss, tailgate toss, whatever… this is a quality game that offers both CPU and pass-n-play modes where you can go either head-to-head with a friend or play in teams.

The physics of the bean bag tossing only qualify as “pretty good” in my book, but the 3D graphics are great and the level of polish on Cornhole All-Stars is way up there. This is a fun game that you’ll definitely enjoy if you’re a fan of the real thing, and it should make for a great bar companion in these winter months when freezing your ass off to play outdoors just isn’t an option.

Chris J. reviewed F.A.S.T. over the summer and thought it was great even though he had some issues with getting a successful 2v2 game going. I bought it when it was down to $.99 and I gotta say it’s pretty good! Grab this game while it’s free… happy dogfighting!!

iSanta 2010 is on sale for free – normally $.99

If you need a diversion to keep the kids busy, iSanta 2010 might fit the bill. I repeat… if you need a diversion to keep THE KIDS busy… see, this isn’t really a grownup’s game. The goal is to drop presents down chimneys and you need to drop presents of the right color into houses that match, and the action is pretty slow but it’s probably about right for the tots.

I don’t know that I’d pay a dollar for iSanta 2010 ‘cuz I don’t have any kids, but if I did I’d think about it. The graphics are decent and it’s a very Christmasy game, so there’s no harm in trying it for free.

The backgrounds change as you level up

Puzzle fiends, get this app now! BoXiKoN is a little like Tetris, except instead of trying to fit pieces together as they fall, you have to drag them from the bottom of the screen into the main puzzle area. Pieces waiting to be used will rotate in place until you drag them to wherever it is you think they should go.

There’s no right or wrong way to stick the puzzle pieces together, but the trick is to do it efficiently enough that you don’t wind up with pieces that don’t fit anywhere. When all of the squares at the bottom fill up with unusable pieces, it’s Game Over.

I’d easily pay $1 for this game, so if you like puzzles then right now is the time to grab this one.

Elf is on sale for free – normally $.99

This is one of those games where you really don’t need any instructions… just tap to make your elf jump, and then left and right to try to keep him flying higher and higher by grabbing all the colorful doodads that are floating around. Some items will earn point bonuses, others result in jumps of varying strength, and one of them you should avoid if at all possible.

Elf isn’t the greatest game ever but it’s not bad for some short-lived amusement, or maybe even hours and hours of amusement if you’re one of those people who refuses to quit until you’ve made it to the top of the global scoreboard. The graphics are nice, the elf has a gigantic mouth which is kind of funny, and it’s free so hey why not.

Sentinel: Mars Defense is on sale for free – normally $.99-$1.99

Tower defense fans, if you don’t  have at least one Sentinel game on your iPhone then you’re a huge loser! Chris J. loved the original Sentinel, Swain had high praise for Sentinel 2: Earth Defense, and I’ve just spent the last 90 minutes or so murdering throngs of aliens in Sentinel: Mars Defense which I think is really the original Sentinel but with a fancier name.

The graphics are awesome, there are lots of gun upgrades, and even though some users have criticized this game for being a sort of “preview” for Sentinel 2 it’s still very much worth playing. Origin8′s Sentinel series definitely qualifies in the category of top-shelf game development and now is the time to get this title if you don’t already have it.

Santa’s Sack is on sale for free – normally $.99

Normally I don’t bother announcing that an app’s on sale unless it’s really good, but I feel compelled to announce this one in case you come across it when it actually costs money! Santa’s Sack has the potential to be a good game with its nice graphics and all, but there’s not a lot of good stuff to say about the gameplay.

The object of the game is to catch all the falling presents in Santa’s big sack, and to do this you have to tilt your iPhone left and right. Sounds fine, but the way Santa slides around just seems too buggy to make this a fun, playable game. Sometimes he’s very slow to respond, sometimes he doesn’t respond at all, and I found the whole thing to be pretty frustrating. Yes, I restarted my iPhone, and that seemed to help a little but I still wasn’t impressed.

Luckily this game is free so there’s no harm in trying it. If you do give it a shot, come back and lemme know if it’s as bad as I think it is or if I’m just an idiot!
