Budcat and Activision have teamed up to bring you Pix Maze. The object of this game is to complete different mazes and as you go a picture is revealed.

There are small mazes, medium mazes and large mazes for you to concour. With over seventy mazes for you to complete this game offers a lot of play time.

When you start up a maze your character is a bug that goes through the maze stepping on little color blocks that leave said color behind you to create the picture. In the top left corner there is a screen that shows your progress on the picture so the further into the maze you get the more detailed your picture becomes.

The controls are really simple and not intrusive. In the bottom right corner there are four arrows that you push to go in the direction you wish.

In the options you can set hints to be on or off. If you have the hints on and you wait at a fork in the road the right way will be show to you as a blinking color tab and if you wait even longer or find yourself off the main path arrows will show up to lead you back.

You can also set a playlist of songs to play from the option menu.

If this wasnt enough there is a custom maze creator. All you have to do is draw up the picture and a maze will be created for you automatically. Way cool.

I had a fun time testing this game out, cool graphics, cool pictures but the one and only thing I didn’t like was the character. Im not sure why they chose a bug as your character but I would have preferred something more appealing.

A few months ago a friend of mine sent me the you tube promo video for the Novation Launchpad for Abelton Live. The device is a controller for making beats and loops. I fell in love instantly and even though I’m not in the music scene I totally wanted one.

Now thanks to mifki and their app SoundGrid I don’t have to spend more than five dollars to have my own beat maker only iPhone. It’s no Novation but this thing is AMAZING. This app is by far the best music app I have played with. It’s easy enough to pick up right away and hammer out some beats, and the mixing options are there to get complex with your beats.

The Impossible Game

You’ll pretty much suck no matter what.

The Bible says that on the seventh day God rested. Well I like to believe that on the eighth day he created The Impossible Game and then to fool everyone he jumped forward through time to present day and published it in the app store under the name Flukedude. But don’t let the title of this game fool you! This game is not impossible; just insanely difficult. It’s honestly more like The Insanely Difficult Game of Trial and Error. Trial and error with an awesome soundtrack. With that said, If you’re the type of gamer that is easily frustrated and discouraged by games then this is not the game for you. However, if you are the type of gamer that takes pleasure in the otherworldly challenges offered by difficult games, then this is the game for you.

About five years ago I came across a simple flash game on the web and would play it at work when I had any down time. I eventually forgot about the game until I got my iPhone. I was thinking
about games that I would like to play with the touch interface and remembered that great flash game. Well now my dreams have come true thanks to Stamp3d3 and their game Postal Mayhem.

The game takes place at a distribution center. Different types of packages come down the conveyer belt and you must make sure the packages go out to the right delivery vehicle. Next to the vehicles is a picture of the package and the number of said packages needed to leave.

Throughout the conveyer belts are arrow’s that can be used to redirect which direction the package will travel. Each level has a set amount of packages that need to be delivered and a set time limit to do it in.

Are you smarter than your friends? Here is your chance to prove just that. Ricochet Labs gives us QRANK the daily trivia challenge game where you try to beat no only your friends but the rest of the world.

Every day you are given 20 questions of which you must answer 15. The questions are divided by difficulty, eight questions worth 100 points, eight questions worth 200 points, and four questions worth 500 points. Three of the questions have multipliers to spice things up.

Each day has four separate categories of questions ranging from entertainment to government.
When you play you will notice some questions have a leaf on the tile , this means it is a current event question.

If all that isn’t enough slap on a huge list of achievements to get you jonesing for your next QRANK fix.

My only complaint is the game uses it’s own system for achievements and friending people, I wish they had gone with a system like open feint or the plus+ network.
If you would like to test your wits against mine, and I’m not about to put out my personal email, post a comment saying add me and make sure you put your email where it asks for it and I will add you.

If I asked you “Who shot Alexander Hamilton in that famous duel?” you might answer something like aaon uhr, or maybe Aaron Burr. WRONG! I SHOT HIM!… O.K. you were right, I didn’t shoot him, but I shot someone that looked like him…O.K., O.K. maybe he looked nothing like Alexander Hamilton but I did shoot some one in Pistols at Dawn by Cedar Hill Games Inc..

In PaD you take on the role of William Gibb, an early 17th century man, who is bumbling his way through a rough patch in his life. Some people might read a motivational book, watch a funny movie, take a walk in the park, but not our friend Will. He seems to find himself looking down the barrel of a gun.

App Launch Sale: Assassin’s Creed II: Multiplayer

Earlier this week Ubisoft released AC2 Multiplayer for free as a promotion. Launching a well known title I’m sure they expected a lot of downloads, which they got, but what they weren’t expecting was a buggy release where a majority of people couldn’t even play a round. Ubisoft is aware of the situation and extended the free promotion until their update is released. I picked up the game and like many I was unable to play, that is until I tried to create my own game. If you try to do a quick play the load circle just goes and goes giving you no sense of progress on weather people are joining the game or if its just frozen. When you create your own game you see all four slots so when someone joins the game you can see. This is the only way I have been able to play a game so if you got the game and have the same problem I had try this method out. If you haven’t downloaded the game I would recommend doing it fast because the update can come at anytime.

It really works

It really works

Bubble Trouble

Bubble Trouble can be described by one word: addictive. This app by XWUZ Entertainment my sport a $2.00 price tag, but is well worth every cent. It is a game with a simple objective: get rid of as many shapes as possible.

The way that this task is accomplished is by clicking groups of three or more of the same shape/color. When you do this, they disappear. You get to keep going until you run out of moves, and then the spaces are filled up with more shapes, and a new level is started. You keep going until the entire board is filled up and no more moves are possible. It may seem easy, but as you advance through each level, more shapes are added slowly until you are dealing with at least five!

This game has cute arcade, style graphics and an easy way to navigate through the game. It even provides you with the instructions whenever you launch the app, so that if you give it to you friend to play, you won’t have to explain. I have played a game similar to this with the exact same objective; however, whenever a space opens up, the stacks of shapes squish together to close the gap. I would have been able to get more points if this was true in this app, but the fact that it doesn’t do that adds the difficulty of the app.

This app is also very child friendly. It has no violence, gore, blood or any of the “bad stuff.” Plus, it allows you to randomly click on things that aren’t pairs (if on accident or not) and not dock any points. I really liked this feature because it made me remain sane when I couldn’t find the last group of three (the game does not start a new level until all existing groups of three or more are gone).

Overall, this is a fun game and well worth your $2.00. It’s easy to learn and hard to put down, so if you are looking for something new to freshen  up your iPhone, check out Bubble Trouble in the App Store.

Ghosts’n Zombies

What do you do when your chapel is overrun with ghosts, zombies, vampires, demons and rats. Well you call on Father Smith the shotgun wielding holy man, that’s what you do. TipCat Mobile brings us this shooter that had me at the opening sequence.

The game play is simple, you tilt the phone left or right to move Father Smith and tap/shoot all the baddies that come on the screen. When you kill something gems fall to the ground, when you walk over them you get more ammo. Better gems giving more ammo drop when you kill multiple monsters with a single shot. Gems also raise your special meter that grant you the big guns. If you get hit by a monster  you loose ammo and when the ammo is gone Game Over so you better make each shot count because a single shot is six bullets.

There are three different modes.

Tutorial: Here is where you learn the ropes. It consists of four stages with simple tasks that teach you all the mechanics of the game.

Story Mode: Consisting of nine levels that you can unlock by completing the previous level. Each level has six timed battles that you have to get through. To pass a battle you need to kill a certain number of monsters that come your way. As you progress through the game you are gradually introduced to different game mechanics. Monsters that are faster and more difficult to kill, different environment elements like ice on the floor. I like the way this is implemented because each level has something new that you must master.

Survival Mode: With six different levels to unlock. This is where you do like the name implies and try to survive.

I was impressed with everything in this game. The graphics are top notch, the game play keeps me coming back for more and the soundtrack is spooky. At a $.99 release sale I would highly recommend you get this game.

This game uses open feint for achievements and leader boards.

Gridiron Football

Blue 62! Blue 62! HIKE!!!! If you have ever wanted to be a coach for a football team, this game is for you. Gridiron Football by Hardenbrook Productions is a fun strategy game with out the bells and whistles. It gets down to the basics of a good game without having to glitter it up with fancy graphics.

In Gridiron Football, you are a coach who is trying to win the game. You can play against the computer or against your buddy. After the coin flip, you get to choose which kick you are doing (normal, squib, or onside). After the kick, you get to choose each play and get to move your players around. The game may not have interesting graphics paired with a good concept, but if you are a die hard football fan looking for something to do during the Super Bowl commercials (that is if you don’t like watching the commercials), then this is one dollar well spent.

The setup of the game is simple and makes it a great pick-me-up kind of game. You can even choose how long each quarter is from five, ten, or fifteen minutes. This is a great feature if you want to play a short game. I found this a really fun game and loved the feeling of being a football coach.

The game also features a mini game called The Drive where you have two minutes on the clock. You are trying to score a touchdown in order to win the mini game. I really liked the addition of the mini game as it added to the greatness of the game; plus, it makes it a great app to play when you have a few spare minutes. Overall, this is a fun game and definitely worth a buck, so click the link below and check out Gridiron Football.

Kapowie

UPDATE: Looks like this app is going for free for a short time, so you better get now!

I sat in a field with my shotgun ready.Everyone had always told my that they hadn’t existed, but I knew they did. As quiet as a cat stalking its prey, I waited. Then they started coming. The flying pigs were coming from all directions! The adrenaline pumped through my entire body as I tried to shoot them. With 20 bullets, I downed 15 pigs. “Pretty good,” I thought. Now I could bring them home and prove to everyone that they do exist!

Ok, so pigs will never fly, and I will never go hunting for them. Well, at least not in the real world, but on my iPhone, anything is possible! I was playing this fun app called Kapowie by Bjango. It is a crazy and silly shooting game packaged up all in one. The arcade style guides you through several levels where you shoot anything from balloons to penguins in elevators (Attention PETA and PETA activists: no penguins were hurt in the making of this game:D). As you advance through the levels, you get less ammo and more targets to shoot, so your accuracy must improve or it’s game over!

I found myself playing this for an hour instead of doing homework. And for all you parents who would love a game to hand to your child without any violence or gore, this game is 100% blood/gore/gross-stuff free!

There are six different themes: balloons, rolling balls, cardboard ducks (like the old-school carnival game), screaming dudes in a mountain, cannonball stunt devils, and penguins in elevators. Playing this game is definitely a great stress reliever or just a fun way to end the day.

I loved the cartoonish graphics in this game. If this game was more realistic with blood and gore, I wouldn’t play it, but since is has cute graphics that don’t make you feel guilty that you just shot a penguin in an elevator, (why a penguin is in an elevator, I don’ know) the game is fun.

If you want a great game that you won’t have to hide from the kids that is only $.99, check out Kapowie!
