Holy Robinator!
Tony Mei | May 25, 2010 Entertainment, Free iPhone Promo Codes
I’m rather fond of cheesy little ‘shout a catchphrase’ apps, and there is no better way to end a Tuesday than to give out a bunch of free codes for the amusing Holy Robinator! by Little Bird Applictions.
Holy Robinator! comes with 60 wildly amusing “Holy” statements, all of them soundbites of classic Batman and Robin episodes. Ranging from “Holy contributing to the delinquency of minors!” (a personal favorite) to “Holy rats in a trap!” to “Holy schizophrenia!”, this app is chock full of giggle-out-loud sound bytes. Enjoy your Tuesday :D (Holy chocolate eclair!)

TEDD
Brad H | Mar 30, 2010 Games
Sweet Studio brings us this platform style side scrolling fighting game. You take on the role of Tedd, the older brother of Kara, who seems to have lost her necklace. You must track down the necklace by fighting your way through a ton of street thugs that stand in your way.
When I downloaded this game the english translation was really bad in a good way. It brought me back to the days of “ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!!” This didn’t bother me at all since this is a fighting game and not an RPG. The story line was like an amusing brain twist in between boss fights. To my dismay an update was put out that fixed a lot of the text. It defiantly isn’t perfect now but you can actually follow the story line. All my screen shots are going to be before the update as an homage to bad translation so I advise you to click on them and see for your self.
Pistols At Dawn
Brad H | Mar 24, 2010 Games
If I asked you “Who shot Alexander Hamilton in that famous duel?” you might answer something like aaon uhr, or maybe Aaron Burr. WRONG! I SHOT HIM!… O.K. you were right, I didn’t shoot him, but I shot someone that looked like him…O.K., O.K. maybe he looked nothing like Alexander Hamilton but I did shoot some one in Pistols at Dawn by Cedar Hill Games Inc..
In PaD you take on the role of William Gibb, an early 17th century man, who is bumbling his way through a rough patch in his life. Some people might read a motivational book, watch a funny movie, take a walk in the park, but not our friend Will. He seems to find himself looking down the barrel of a gun.
WTF: Pocket Performance Review
Michael (Admin) | Jan 6, 2010 Entertainment, WTF?!

Pocket Performance Review is on sale for free – normally $.99
Don’t be shocked if you see Michael Scott using this app in a future episode of The Office! Pocket Performance Review is a collection of executive decisions that are vocalized by 12 different personalities that run the gamut from a typical office chump (Mr. Littleman) to a gangsta (Master B) to a granny (Nellie). You can change the names of the personalities if you want, and by either shaking or selecting the various recordings you’ll be able to tell people that they’re fired, laid off, outsourced, taking an unpaid leave, and numerous other types of bad news. It’s not all bad, though, as Back Pocket Software also threw in a few positive messages to tell your minions that they’ve been given a raise or been promoted.
Shaking your iPhone or hitting the “Perform Evaluation” button will select a random message, and you can rig it to land on the evaluation of your choice.
Pocket Performance Review is a joke (literally) and I think it has high potential for being the source of your next office prank if you feel like getting creative. It’s nice and polished, and for the time being it’s free!

Q&F: Amp Up Before Your Score
Michael (Admin) | Oct 15, 2009 Entertainment, News & Editorials, Quick & Free

This is the app that, over the past week, has been written about over and over and over again… and now Pepsi is apologizing for it.
Apologizing is definitely the right move from a PR standpoint, but I’m just gonna come out and say what everyone else is apparently afraid to… AMP UP BEFORE YOUR SCORE IS FUNNY! Sorry ladies, I know it probably pisses off some of you, but for the rest who can see this app for the joke that it’s clearly intended to be, it’s pretty hilarious.
AMP UP Before Your Score is a very tongue-in-cheek guide to “scoring” with 24 different types of women who range from Aspiring Actress to Indie Girl to Trouble and everything in between. For each type there are numerous ways of engaging the lady that include pickup lines and various conversation starters that are customized for each personality. If you’re talking to Goth Girl, Before Your Score provides a list of vampires and goth bands. If you’re talking to Political Girl, the app launches an in-app browser and loads Obama’s Twitter account and some recent political news items. Pepsi went the distance here and actually put some thought into each content item and the result, although unfortunate for feminism, is an app that’s packed with some hysterically crude humor.

WTF: I’mma Let U Finish
Michael (Admin) | Oct 14, 2009 Entertainment, WTF?!

LOL!!!! I’mma Let U Finish is a pretty funny dig on the world’s biggest tool, Kanye West. If you don’t know what the name of this app is referring to then you’re either too young, too old, or living in some weird parallel universe!
Press the button to hear a pretty good Kanye impersonator rattle off a bunch of variations on his moronic interruption of Taylor Swift’s VMA acceptance speech such as I’mma let you finish, but this app is betta’ than bacon! and …that is one of the dumbest ideas of all time! There are 11 one-liners in all.
BigSprocket even made the app smart enough to remind you to turn up the sound if you launch the app while the volume is turned down. All in all it’s still a pretty dumb app, but it’s funny and maybe worth a buck if you truly enjoy reliving Kanye’s utter stupidity.

Q&F: Roadkill Cafe
Michael (Admin) | Oct 12, 2009 Games, Quick & Free

Roadkill Cafe is on sale for *free*! Normal price is $.99 – $1.99
I confess that I’ve only spent about 15 minutes playing this game, but I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say drop what you’re doing and get Roadkill Cafe right now while it’s still free!
It’s funny, it’s gross, it’s well produced, and on top of all that it’s four games in one. The main game has you driving around an odd looking roadkill-scooping-vehicle, and you need to pick up all the dead animals that are constantly getting smushed in traffic so you can deliver them to the cafe where hungry customers are waiting!
In Survivor mode you simply have to dodge traffic for as long as possible, Vengeance is very similar but instead you’re dodging chickens, and in Rampage you’re driving along a Spy Hunter-ish highway where you have to mow down as much roadkill as you can while also avoiding collisions with other cars.
Roadkill Cafe respects the iPod, has global high score boards, and comes with three different control schemes (choosing one is a game in itself) and even if you miss out on this sale I’d say go for it if you’re in the mood for something new! I don’t think there are hours and hours of gameplay here, but it’s still a very good game for just a buck or two.

WTF: Misfortune Cookie
Michael (Admin) | Oct 7, 2009 Entertainment, WTF?!

Real-life fortune cookies served with the check at Chinese restaurants are almost always a disappointment, and iPhone apps that try to deliver the same crappy wisdom suck even worse, so why not funny it up a bit?
Veloxus has the right idea with Misfortune Cookie… this app offers “normal” fortunes, and you can turn on “bad fortunes” in Settings, plus you can also append “…in bed”! Kinda funny. It would be way funnier if you could write your own fortunes to do some serious pranking, but Misfortune Cookie’s current set of mildly amusing barbs is already way more entertaining than all the other fortune cookie apps that try to play it straight.

- Wow, these fortunes are incredibly accurate!
- You can still get nice fortunes with a two-finger tap

Ship Creek
Michael (Admin) | Oct 7, 2009 Games

I’ve never met Scott Moakes, but I can already tell that he’s either a down-home country boy and/or a dude with a wacky sense of humor!
Ship Creek is a hilariously low-tech sea combat game where your badly-drawn battleship is being assaulted from all directions by equally rough-looking enemies against a crumpled paper backdrop. Your mission is to fight off planes, hot air balloons, and other boats with an unlimited supply of scribbled dots, I mean, ammo, as they bombard you with bombs and more scribbles.
The really funny thing about this game is the sound… background music is a very backwoods banjo track, and everything else was clearly produced by a couple of guys who are mouthing their own sound effects the same way 10 year old boys do when they’re crashing toys into each other.
Q&F: Hilarious Bumper Stickers
Michael (Admin) | Oct 5, 2009 Entertainment, Quick & Free

I like hilarious bumper stickers as much as the next idiot, but Trippert Labs really needs to populate this app with more than the 50 or so bumper stickers it’s currently sporting. Some of the bumper stickers are indeed funny, most only qualify as mildly amusing at best, and in the “Newest” section it appears that the upload-your-own-pic function is attracting mildly amusing pics of things that aren’t bumper stickers at all!
The execution on this app is pretty good, but I’d like it a lot more if you could just page through individual photos like you can with I Can Has Cheezburger. Right now you can flip through pages of photos, but to view individual pics you have to tap to view and then tap again to go back to the gallery (edit: you can also enlarge the page view so it only shows one pic at a time). The app is free so I guess there’s no harm in trying it out, but lower your expectations… chances are you’ll be ready to delete this app within 10 minutes cuz that’s about how long it’ll take for you to look at *all* the bumper stickers this app has to offer! Yeah, I know this app wants to be a user-generated collection that grows on its own, but it’s just not there yet and the small content base isn’t helping.

- Somewhat amusing but not what I'd call 'hilarious'
- Ok this one's funny
- Hey what a coincidence... me too!
- Read the name of the app people! BUMPER STICKERS!
- Nice that you can adjust the size of the pages with the slider at the bottom
WTF: Pretty Poo
Michael (Admin) | Sep 16, 2009 Entertainment, WTF?!

Pretty Poo is the exact reason there’s a WTF category on iPhone App Reviews!
Digital Mint has created a cartoon piece of poo that doesn’t like flies, but flies like poo, so it’s your job to keep the flies away by shaking your iPhone or blowing on the mic. Flies go away, poo is happy, but naturally the flies come back for more, circle of life, rinse and repeat.
I’d like to tell you that there’s more to Pretty Poo than that, but that would make me a big fat liar! The developer bills Pretty Poo as a “designer app” so I guess it’s meant to be appreciated more for style than substance. I’ll admit that this is a nicely assembled app despite the laughably stupid premise… makes me wonder what Digital Mint could do if they were to venture beyond the limited realm of cute & quirky.
