Hardest Game Ever – 0.02s (Free) by Ming Liang Chien
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
Hardest Game Ever – 0.02s is currently #1 in the Top 25 Free section in the App Store
Top 25 is a new thing we’re doing here at IAR! We generally like to review apps that fall well outside the App Store’s Top 25 ‘cuz, let’s face it, apps that have reached “Top” status don’t need IAR’s help getting noticed. But are they any good?
Hardest Game Ever – 0.02s really is fun! And it’s pretty hard. It’s a collection of eight simple mini-games that are playable at three different levels of difficulty, and each mini-game is designed to piss you off, I mean, test your faculties. You’ll need quick reflexes and good motor control to successfully beat each level and not feel like a complete loser.
Angry Tank

Angry Tank (1.99) by Tashlik
Available on iPhone only
I occasionally seek out apps that look kind of rough because you never know… sometimes they’re surprisingly fun! Angry Tank is definitely rough around the edges, but the only thing that’s surprising about it is the concept.
You’re controlling a tank in this game that’s constantly getting bombarded by bombs dropped from aircraft flying overhead. Bombs are bad for tanks, right? Wrong! In Angry Tank, bombs make your tank fly. Uhh, ok. So once you’re in the air… you use your tank’s cannon to shoot stuff, right? Wrong again! You use arrow buttons to make your magic flying tank wipe out enemies by colliding with them.

Rage of Witches

Rage of Witches ($0.99) by Nob Studio
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
I was in the mood to try something totally brainless… and I found it! Frankly I should have reviewed this app a week ago when witches and zombies were still in season, but since Nob Studio submitted this app on November 3rd that didn’t happen. Eh oh well.
So how do you play this game? Tap until your finger goes numb! The idea is to protect the poor peasants from all the scary weirdos that keep popping up out of nowhere. Zombies, witches, skeletons, ghosts, it’s kind of like Halloween is projectile vomiting all over the peasants you’re charged with guarding.
Let’s Golf! 3

Let’s Golf! 3 (Free) by Gameloft
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
I’d give this game 5/5 stars if it wasn’t for that damn wait-or-pay thing that game developers like to do these days. As a golf game, Let’s Golf! 3 rules. I mean really, what else would you expect from Gameloft? Those guys rake in mountains of App Store cash for a reason!
And if you’ve ever played Hot Shots Golf on Playstation then you already know how to swing because the action is exactly the same: tap to start your swing, tap again to determine stroke power, tap a third time for accuracy. For the uninitiated this may sound complicated, but it’s super easy after you do it a couple times and putting only takes two taps.
Mad Rush

Mad Rush ($.99) by Krivorukoff LLP
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
There’s something pretty funny about launching a shrieking rabbit into the air! I’ve never done it in real life, but that’s pretty much what happens in every level of Mad Rush.
Mad Rush is a goofy little racing game where your rabbit hero, Noop, has to beat alien opponents to the top of an airborne obstacle course. In DieHard and Slalom races you gain acceleration by eating bugs of various colors, and in Nitro races you simply have to keep Noop in line with a path of upward-pointed arrows.
Rescue City

Rescue City (Free ($0.99 full game)) by Cleverson Leal
Available on iPhone & iPod Touch
We’ve all seen those line drawing games, the ones where you have to direct traffic, land planes, or direct trains, but this game provides a new take on this type of game. The aim of this game is quite simple, get the emergency vehicles to the destination before the time runs out. To do this you simply draw a route across the screen for the vehicle to follow. Although its not quite as simple as this, as you have to make sure that the vehicles don’t crash into each other. This is surprisingly hard in the later levels.

Monster Munch ~ Halloween Feast
Michael (Admin) | Oct 27, 2011 Games

Monster Munch ~ Halloween Feast (Free) by Bluebear Technologies
Available on iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad
If you’ve ever played Sky Burger (or any of the 10 million games that are similar) then Monster Munch will feel very familiar… stuff falls from the sky, and you control the game by tilting left and right. The difference is that you’re not building any burgers… instead, you’re catching pumpkins while you try to dodge skulls that take away your extra lives. You also want to avoid Holy Water ‘cuz that will make your little Dracula character get big, and being big makes it harder to dodge the evil skulls that are raining from the sky.

So Tappie Games is supposed to be geared for 1+ year olds and to improve finger movement skills and coordination. I let my 1.5 year old play it so this feedback is all based upon one child, one very cute and super intelligent child, who will probably be a pro athlete someday. Anyway…

AC-130

AC-130 (free) by Triniti Interactive
Dammit! I really wanted this game to be awesome. It’s NOT BAD… but I think my expectations were maybe a little inflated, and I blame Call of Duty for that.
If you’ve ever played that Call of Duty mission where one guy is on the ground getting his ass torn to shreds while a friend, most likely a girl who’s afraid to get shot at, controls the flying gun in the sky, then you know what I’m talking about. But let me reiterate: AC-130 isn’t bad for what it is, and for the low, low price of zero it’s worth checking out if your lifelong dream is to rain death from above.

Prize Claw Halloween

Prize Claw Halloween (free) by Game Circus
If your kid is into those prize claw machines that never spit out actual prizes, get this app and tell Junior to shut his hole.
Ok that’s a little mean, don’t do that! But do try to amuse him/her/it with this app because (a) this prize claw rarely drops anything, (b) it’s free, and (c) it’s very Halloween-themed which I hear children are really into this time of year.

Shoot the Birds
Michael (Admin) | Oct 20, 2011 Games

Shoot the Birds (free) by Infinite Dreams, Inc.
Don’t let the name fool you… Shoot the Birds is NOT an Angry Birds imitator! Infinite Dreams has made something original here and it’s pretty cool, plus it looks kind of Halloweeny with the bird killer being a pumpkin-headed scarecrow. Intentional or just a coincidence that it’s October? Eh, who cares.
So yeah, this game is all about shooting as many birds out of the sky as you can before the sun goes down. Some birds are worth more points than others, and you can score combos by skewering several at a time which is oddly satisfying.
Troll Blaster
Michael (Admin) | Oct 18, 2011 Games

Troll Blaster ($0.99) by eMobiSoft Inc.
In Troll Blaster you shoot stuff across the screen with the goal of destroying a structure whose collapse will, in turn, kill all the little critters sitting on it. Sound familiar?
If you like Angry Birds then, at the very least, you’ll kind of like Troll Blaster. Is this app as good as the Birds? Not really. But it does do some things right and if you’re all bummed out ‘cuz you played through every Angry Birds level in existence then blasting some trolls might cheer you up.
